Yeovil Literary Festival 2016

Thu 20 Oct to Sun 23 Oct 2016

Tickets are now on sale!

The fourth Yeovil Literary Festival will be four days of literary events to suit all tastes and ages. See some brilliant speakers in four venues.

The first event is on Thursday October 20th at 3pm in the Johnson Studio of The Octagon Theatre where you’ll be able to meet and listen to some past winners of the Yeovil Literary Prize. Some of this year’s winners will be reading their work. Also, meet Hilary Davies, judge of our poetry category this year, who will be presenting the prize to the Western Gazette Best Local Writer. Always a popular event.

The evening of October 20th, starting at 7pm in the Manor Hotel, will be the grand opening of the festival with the YCAA Literary Dinner with Jason Goodwin. Acclaimed novelist Jason Goodwin is the author of several award winning travel books, and his series of crime novels with a eunuch called Yashim as his investigator are set in the times of the Ottoman Empire. This year we are awaiting a cookery book full of Yashim’s recipes as featured in this fascinating series. Jason has a large following of readers so come along and hear for yourself whilst enjoying a champagne reception followed by a three course meal with coffee and mints. Jason was also our judge for the novel category of the Yeovil Literary Prize this year.

A stunning beginning to our Literary Festival. Tickets are now available at £25 each from the box office of The Octagon Theatre. This is a fundraising event for the work of the Yeovil Community Arts Association and thanks must go to The Manor Hotel for supporting us.

For poetry lovers, Hilary Davies has her own event at 10am on Friday 21st October in the Johnson Studio of The Octagon Theatre.

The Octagon box office 01935 422884 will be where to buy tickets . See www.octagon-theatre.co.uk.
