The YCAA Children’s Short Story Writing Competition 2018

2018 is the third year of the YCAA (Yeovil Community Arts Association) organising the Children’s Short Story Competition for Year 5 and 6 pupils in the Western Gazette area. This year the stories will be judged by the children’s author Beth Webb, who will also be presenting the ten prizes in the Yeovil Waterstones on Saturday April 7, 2018. The theme of this years’ story is : #onlyjoking.
Entries must be word processed to no more than 500 words and sent to the Western Gazette, accompanied by a printed form found in the newspaper on February 15, February 22nd and March 1.
A winners’ prize of £30, two runner up prizes of £20 and seven commended prizes of £10 will be awarded.
Entry forms will appear in the Western Gazette on February 15, 22nd and March 1st. Closing date for entries to arrive at the Western Gazette office : Friday March 8.
Winners will be notified by email by Thursday March 29.
All entries must be accompanied by the form.
As you know, the YCAA is a charity that promotes the arts in our local area. This competition, and super prizes, is to encourage all our young writers to use their imagination and to have the confidence to enter a competition for a prize.
